Description
CyberOptics' KS family of automated optical inspection (AOI) systems use innovative, proprietary Statistical Appearance Modeling (SAM) software to perform post-placement or post-reflow inspection with inherently low false calls. Unlike conventional AOI systems, KS systems do not require algorithm programming. SAM is knowledge-based software that allows the KS systems to learn inspection parameters and create a mathematical model of a good PCB simply by seeing a number of know good boards. During production, as the system continues to inspect, additional examples allow SAM to refine the model even further, so false calls decrease over time until settling at a minimal level.
SAM teaches itself to distinguish good images much like your brain learns to recognize a face...
The software independently creates a visual model incorporating all of the characteristics of a good image without requiring a definition of each parameter.
