The cognitive robotics course uses the CRAM cognitive architecture (Cognitive Robot Abstract Machine) and ROS (Robot Operating System) on Ubuntu.

The CRAM Installation page states that the recommended setup is Ubuntu 16.04 with ROS Kinetic. However, CRAM research has already moved to an Ubuntu 18.04 with ROS Melodic.

For this reason, we support two software installations:

  1. Cognitive Robotics - Software Installation Guide for ROS Kinetic and Ubuntu 16.04
  2. Cognitive Robotics - Software Installation Guide for ROS Melodic and Ubuntu 18.04

The 18.04 guide is under development. Please do not use it. Use the 16.04 guide instead.

Next year, the course will use CRAM on Ubuntu 18.04 with ROS Melodic. This year (2022) we will stay with Ubuntu 16.04 with ROS Kinetic.
